Berkeley Lab likes liquid cooled datacenters

Written by Dasha Bushmakin | Nov 8, 2013

Henry Coles, Program Manager at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory spoke at Silicon Valley Leadership Group’s 2013 Data Center Efficiency Summit.

The lab has conducted a six month study of liquid-cooled-datacenter servers in hopes of improving the efficiency and lifespan of their 40-year-old, 5600 square-foot datacenter.

The results showed an energy savings of 16-24%.

The air-cooled datacenter was already running at a fairly efficient PUE of 1.45.
