Do you believe in the notion of “the data center of everything?” More platforms, services and users are deploying their workloads to a data center infrastructure. Dependence around the data center and the resources that they provide is increasing.

The number of data centers in operation worldwide will increase from over 191,000 to 202,000 between 2011 and 2014. Total data center square footage increasing from 569 million to 737 million.

DC managers have to face challenges around resiliency, uptime and risk.

Understanding of an organizational data assets can be centralized, whether that understanding is logical only, or a physical reality. The same arguments that have been made for centralized data definition and DB management can be made for informational assets, with equal validity.
